We’ve noticed buntings (some folks call them “pleated fans”) appearing more frequently in patriotic holiday decorations in the past couple of years on both residential and public buildings. Because they don’t require flagpoles or stands, buntingsĀ can be used in grouped displays on windows, porches and fences. We found a great assortment of treatments as we traveled around the area. Here are some of our favorites.
The buntings here have solid color bars and work beautifully next to the American flag.
Here the buntings are more traditional in design with stars in the blue color band.
On this public building in Hadley, Massachusetts railing containers of bright red geraniums provide a lovely balance for a traditional bunting display.
Next door, the classic New England door & window architectural design mirror the curves of a traditional bunting
Across the street, another public building is in full holiday regalia with both buntings and colonial style pull downs.

And, finally, a wonderful display on a country garden gate.
We hope these will inspire your decorating ideas for the upcoming July 4th holiday!
