Like Michael F.’s winning design, we liked the way Stacey used a combination of flags, mailbox cover, lighting, evergreen garland and other outdoor art pieces like the oxidized snowmen and the red & white candy canes to create her scenes. Despite having so many elements, everything played off the colors in the “Snow Mates” design, from MagnetWorks,  which itself reflected the beige and white colors of Stacey’s house. The result was a festively warm and rich color palette that really stood out.

Great work, Stacey!

Until tomorrow, happy flag flying!

As we did with our Outdoor Design Contest last Fall, this week we’ll post all the images submitted by the contest winners. Not everyone submitted three images this time around, but we’ll post what they did send, and tell you what our judges liked about each setting.

The winner of the Flag Fables Holiday Outdoor Design Contest was Michael F., from New York. Michael sent in a holiday setting complete with freshly fallen snow.

We thought this scene was a simple, but classic, Winter holiday design with a traditional green, red, white, black and gold color palette.  We found the photograph with the freshly fallen snow almost perfect – the snow actually became part of the design.

We loved the evergreen garland with red & white Christmas ball highlights wrapped around the white pillars and up along the porch roof line. The window wreaths with red ribbons were a perfect compliment.  And, finally, we liked that the star Michael added to the monogram flag reflected the star burst porch light cover.

Great work, Michael, it was a beautifully composed setting!

Happy Flag Flying Everyone!

Congratulations to the winners! As in our previous contests, we were impressed with the way each of you paid such close attention to details and color, and how you used additional pieces like wreaths, garlands, signs and lighting. And, in Michael’s case, how he embellished on the flag design itself!

As we did after the last contest, beginning on Monday, January 18th, we’ll do one post a day with all the images from each winner, starting, of course, with Michael!

For those of you who didn’t win, or weren’t selected as finalists, don’t give up! We’ve been amazed at the quality of the designs we’ve received from all of you and choosing the winners is challenging.  Sometimes it’s just that extra “something” that stands out and makes that design a winner.  We’ll do other contests and hopefully that deciding factor will be in your design!

Once again, thank you ALL for taking the time to photograph your settings and send them to us – particularly in light of the hectic holidays and snowy weather! We love seeing your new designs and sharing them with other outdoor design enthusiasts.

Happy Flag Flying!
